THIS POST WAS UPDATED 2nd MAY 2021
If you are wondering what is a digital mum or what being a digital mum even means, then you are in the right place.
The Digital Mum was started to help women who want to learn new online skills.
Maybe you have some interests or passions that you have had before you had your baby or children, that you buried away for that one day maybe…
If you are looking for a way to learn new skills or maybe to use those already learnt skills and turn these into an income from home, then you will hopefully find what you are looking for here.
But don’t worry if you don’t have any burning passions or hobbies hidden away. You will still learn other skills that will help you to create an income online. (It’s where I’ve learnt to build this blog, and I have no coding experience at all!!)
I’ m guessing that you’ ve come to this site as you were looking for something to help you make some changes in your life. I’m guessing that you are probably a mum and want to find some ways to adding to the family income?
Maybe you were looking for a way to use the growth in the online world to build an extra income for you and your family?
Or maybe you are just looking for some inspiration?
Perhaps you have a secret passion as a writer and want to get to grips with building your own mommy blog.
Whatever your reason for being here, welcome. It will be a wonderful journey if you are willing to take a look and keep an open mind.
If you’ve been searching around for a while now for alternative ways to create an income from home, then I’m guessing that your email box is probably full of offers.
It’s likely that you have been bombarded with many to good to be true offers by now ?
I know that I felt so overwhelmed with where to start and which program/s to buy. I almost fell over at the cost of some of them, to be honest.
Where do you start if you want to learn Digital Skills?
If you are still wondering does this digital stuff really work?
It’ s fine to be sceptical after all that is inbuilt in our nature.
This keeps us safe from doing the wrong thing or being taken in by our long lost uncles in parts of the world we had never heard of before.
We are programmed to question things. To ask how things work. Most importantly we are programmed to work out for ourselves if something is intuitely right for us.
You know when you pick up that dress which you know is going to be just perfect. Your gut tells you to get it and get it now. And when you slip it on later, you know that you made the right decision.
You just knew and followed your gut. Sometimes, you do need to trust those inner instincts.
What is The Digital Mum and what can you do for me?
I’ m a mum myself and know exactly what it is like to juggle family, home and work.
I know what it is like to be exhausted and to have demands placed on you from all corners of life.
I know that over the years I’ ve always thought that there has to be something more than this.
Something to make life easier.
All I wanted some days was more time to spend with my family when they were growing up. (and of course a bit extra dosh to take away some of the financial burdens).
That was over 18 years ago, my children are more grown-up now (only in physical form though!). (Note to self they never stop needing you no matter how old they become 🙂
When my children were growing up, the opportunities with the internet that are readily available now, weren’ t around.
It’ s hard to believe that there has been such a change in the way we lives and how the internet has taken over.
Our world has become so digital in such a short space of time. Why wouldn’t you take advantage of this opportunity to create something different.
I recall having this unmet feeling over the years when my children were growing. This constant search for something which would allow me the freedom to do the things that I wanted to do, to raise my family and not to be tied to someone else’ s agenda.
I began searching the internet for different ways of working from home.
I began researching the numerous programs that were offered to me.
I read everything that I could find.
I wanted to learn as much as I could about the digital world and how this all works.
The Digital Mum is everything I have learnt along the way.
It is here to help you to avoid the mistakes I made when I first started out online.
I’ m not going to sugar coat it. It is not going to be easy to make changes or to even try something new.
Some of what is out there will waste your time, take your money and will get you nowhere. ( I know I’ve been there, like I said, I have spend many years researching before I found out what what started to work for me)
How do you know which will work and what doesn’t when you are starting out?
Well, frankly you don’t.
You can do what I did, go out and do your own research and learn along the way, until you finally figure it out.
Or if you want to skip the mistakes along the way, and learn from mine and the community I am part of since starting my online business, then I’d be happy to guide you along.
The Digital Mum, is here to help women who are raising a family and want to find a way to stay home and find alternative ways to earn a living from home on line.
Or maybe they are like me and their brood is at the point of leaving the nest as mine are and now have some time for you again.
The Digital Mum is here to help you decide if this online stuff is right for you (cos this is not for everyone).

You will need to take action in order to see any real results with a digital lifestyle business.
3 Things You Need To Know Before Starting A Digital Lifestyle
Lesson 1: The Importance of Mindset
I’ ve discovered from my mentors, thought leaders and business owners and from my own research, that you have to start with you.
You are the key to your success and you are the key to your failure.
Earl Nightingale, in The Strangest Secret was my starting point, he asks why does one person succeed and the other fail when they started out at the same starting point, with the same education?
It is one of those talks that I go back to time and time again.
Take 30 minutes to listen to The Strangest Secret by Earl Nightingale
You can go out and buy any number of programs in order to get an education to learn skills to use the internet to earn an income from home.
You can spend thousands of £’ s or $’ s on training, programs, and books but at the end of the day if you haven’ t approached this with the right mindset then you are simply not going to make it.
I’ m sorry to have to have to break it to you this way but that was the first lesson that I learnt.
Mindset is so, so important to your success.
So at The Digital Mum, I will be talking about your mindset and your personal development.
Your mindset, in the end, is down to you and only you.
I can show you the tools and resources that helped me along the way.
I’ ll hold your hand but I can’ t do it for you.
Lesson 2: Discover your Passion
The next thing you need to work out is your own starting point.
The starting point is You.
You and your passion. Your own drive. Your determination to make a change.
What I learnt along my journey of education and self-discovery, is that if you are out just wanting to make money, then this just isn’ t the best way to go about it.
Yes, we all want to make money, hell we all need it to live in this world but if you only chase the money then you lose the essence of yourself and what your values are about.
In order to make money, you will need to give value. It is in giving value that you will find that what you give out will come back to you.
First you need to discover your passion.
Then share it with others.
I know it seems too simple.
By doing this you will find that your passion will help you to create something – a whole new way of life and lifestyle for you.
It is in this creating this new lifestyle that you will find that your life with change.
It is all about making this internal shift first and discovering you and your passion.
I’ ll be digging deeper into helping you think about your passions and connecting with your passions again as we go along.
Lesson 3 — Learning the skills to build a business on line
I hear you, you’ ve been thinking all well and good about this mind set malarkey and passion stuff but I need to know how to do it.
How do I make money online and build a lifestyle business.
That is why The Digital Mum has been put together.
But don’ t rush ahead before you cover the first stages, believe me it will save you months of frustration.
The skills you need to learn online can be challenging because if you are like me then you didn’ t grow up in a digital world.
This is all new to you.
You’ ve had to adapt and learn and change the way you do things.
Take something as simple as shopping.
There’ s been such a change in this simple day to day task.
In the digital world, if we wanted to, we don’ t have to get the kids in the car, coax them to sit in the trolley, or bribe them with a sweet at the end if they behave.
Thanks to the internet, digital mums all over the world can simply log on and do their shopping from the comfort of their home.
Then it is delivered to their door and they never have to contend with crying children or tantrums in the store. Fantastic isn’ t it!
So that is one reason why you need to learn how to really use and understand the internet. You need to get a digital education.
You need to learn not to be afraid to try.
Yes, some of it is technical and you may not enjoy it but once you learnt it then you can outsource it, but that is for the future, and let’ s not get ahead of ourselves.
So how can you share your passion and interests, about the information that you already have.
The easiest way is through a blog and we’ ll be looking at how to set up a blog and to make it work to build and share your passion.
The next stage is to build your email list and to create a fan base. We all have to start from nothing, so do not despair and think but how am I going to do this.
I’ ll walk you through the relationship building with your subscribers and how to market a product on line.
